財団法人自動車登録検査情報協会による自動車保有台数の推移 を見ると乗用車の保有台数はわずかながらではありますが増加を続けています。

これをざっくり見てみると1991年の乗用車保有台数は、35,151,831台、これが2011年になると58,139,471台です。
2001年でも52,449,354台。

クルマが売れない売れないというのに、どうしてこうなっているのかというということで、今度は平均車齢を見てみましょう。

1991年の4.54年に対し、7.74年。
同様に2001年では6.04年。

このことから明らかになるのは、クルマ離れは起きていないということ。
ただし、新車離れは起きている。

ということです。


さらに、別の調査を見ると若者のクルマ離れもウソ。

増加しているシニア層に較べて保有率が減少しているのは事実だとしても、20代30代で顕著に自家用車保有率が下がっているわけではない。

ただし、普通乗用車が顕著に低下している一方で軽自動車がそれをカバーしている構図が見て取れます。

これは、若年層の所得水準が低下しているという、そもそもクルマに費やせる資金が減少しているということではあろうかと考えられます。しかし、だからといってクルマを持っていないということではないのです。

メーカーの目線だと、新車が売れない＝クルマ離れ、自動車雑誌の目線だと、スポーツカーが売れない＝若者のクルマ離れ、かもしれませんが、厳密には車からは離れてない。
